Dear Editor, The authors mention that they used a caffeine base dose of 25mg/kg for the neonates in the study. This equates to 50mg/kg of caffeine citrate and is more than twice the usual recommended loading dose(1)for this indication. Is this an error in the script of the article or did they indeed use this dose to get the 'maximum benefit'. Reference: (1) BNF for children 2006 |
