The high noise levels produced during nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) reported by Karam et al demonstrate that the developing ears of preterm infants are continuously exposed to audio trauma.1 The noise levels were directly related to flow through the circuits but not to the pressure generated or to the type of nCPAP device used.
