Antifungal prophylaxis for very-low-birth-weight infants: UK national survey
Abstract
In a UK-wide survey, 28% of neonatal units reported using systemic or topical/oral antifungal prophylaxis for very-low-birth-weight infants. Systemic prophylaxis is targeted to extremely preterm infants with additional risk factors for invasive fungal infection. Currently, there appears to be sufficient equipoise to undertake further randomised controlled trials of these interventions.
