            Abstract

Aim of the study was to measure the difference between set CPAP value and pharyngeal pressure reading during continuous positive airway pressure performed in premature infants with mild respiratory distress syndrome, using two different devices: an hood CPAP or a conventional nasal system.

Our preliminary results suggest that hood CPAP may guarantee a better stability in pharyngeal pressure compared to the conventional nasal device.
